Cyanotype & Botanical Printing Workshop in Cumbria's Eden Valley - Sunday April 13th
10am - 3pm - Crossways, Morland, Penrith, CA10 3AX
This workshop is a collaboration between Kim Tillyer (witchmountain) and Jenny Brook ( Boo and the Noodle) and will be held at Jenny’s lovely Cumbrian cottage home. Participants should be aware that this is a domestic setting and expect a professional but friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We will hopefully be working both indoors and outside so wear appropriate, comfortable clothing.
All materials included.
Suitable for all abilities.
Unlimited Tea, Coffee and biscuits and a simple vegetarian lunch.
8 places available.
Jenny (natural dyes and printing) : Jenny is a textile artist and co‐founded Studio Morland, an arts and wellness hub for rural local communities. She also runs school workshops and has collaborated closely on various art projects with groups and organisations such as Stomping Ground, Kirby Stephen Community Arts, Eden Rivers Trust, and Westmorland Dales. You will learn about eco-printing/dying techniques using natural and found objects. Enjoy bundle dying over an open fire using leaves and plant material gathered during a short foraging walk around the village. Printed fabric samples can be used in future sewing, quilting or journaling projects.
Kim (cyanotype) : You will learn about the history of the cyanotype process, how to mix the solution to coat a variety of surfaces, prepare and print a selection of paper and fabric to use as greetings cards or other creative projects and explore ways of mark making on transparent surfaces to make negatives. If the weather is good we will work outside some of the time and we plan a short walk to collect plants from the garden and hedgerow.
